2008 A and A-Major Guidelines

The North American Fastpitch Association has announced the following eligibility requirements for players who will be competing in the 2008 NAFA Class "A" and Class "A-Major" World Series.

Class "A" World Series Guidelines

1-Teams competing in the NAFA "A" World Series must be classified as Class "A" by their State/Provincial Director.  The NAFA Vice Presidents, Robert Hernandez, Jon Kegel, Mike Watson and Loren Lathrop, will review any team or player that a State Director believes is in between classes or that the State Director has not collected enough information on.  Players Classified higher than ASA "C" or CASA Intermediate "C" are not eligible unless pre-approved by both the State Director and the Executive Director or appropriate Vice President.

2-Players who played on teams in competing in any of the following tournaments, in the previous two years, are NOT ELIGIBLE for the NAFA "A" World Series unless first pre-approved by the Executive Director:

b-ASA Major National Tournament (unless acknowledged as host or fill-in team)

c-ASA Class "A" National Tournament (unless acknowledged as host or fill-in team)

d-ASA Class "B" National Tournament (unless acknowledged as host or fill-in team)

h-Western or Eastern Senior "B" - or Intermediate "A" Canadians - (unless acknowledged as host or fill-in team)

3-You may play up but not down in Class.  Players on this years Class AA team (or higher) regular rosters are NOT eligible to play in the Class "A" World Series.  Players in the Class A World Series ARE eligible for the "AA" or "A-Major" World Series (and higher) as approved pick-up players.

4-Teams may NOT play in the 2008 NAFA "A" World Series unless pre-approved by the Executive Director if they:

a-Finished in the top eight (8)of the previous year's "A-Major" or higher World Series without using pick-up pitchers

a-Finished in the top 16 in the previous year "AA" or higher World Series without using pickup pitchers and/or players.

b-Won four (4) games in the previous years ASA Class "B" Nationals without approval.

c-Finished in the top eight (8) in the previous years ASA Class "B" Nationals (unless approved by National Classification Committee).

d-Won more than two (2) games in the ISC II Tournament of Champions the previous year unless first approved.

4-Any eligibility issues which are not covered by the requirements presented above will be decided by the State Director in association with the Vice President or the Executive Director.

5-The geographic boundaries for all divisions of NAFA have been removed for the 2008 season.  Any player that does not live in a State or Province touching the home state that the team is registered in should notify their State Director so that we can track this issue at the 2008 World Series.  The need for geographic boundaries will be reexamined at the National Meeting at the 2008 NAFA World Series.
